Back by popular demand is “Introduction to Houseboating” weekend program. This one-of-a-kind learning experience combines hands-on instruction with a licensed captain and insider tips for exploring Lake Powell’s hidden canyons and secluded beaches. The fun begins at check-in on Friday evening. Immediately after, enjoy dinner at Lake Powell Resort’s newly-redecorated Rainbow Room or Defiance House Lodge’s Anasazi Restaurant. On Saturday morning, participants will kick off the weekend with a six-hour training course on one of Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas’ premier houseboats. A licensed captain and deckhand will offer firsthand training on how to maneuver, anchor and dock the houseboat, along with tips on tying and towing a powerboat. Guests can enjoy downtime to relax and sunbathe on the deck of the houseboat or take photos of the stunning scenery. “The Introduction to Houseboating program this past spring was a great success and exceeded participants’ expectations, so we are excited to offer it again this fall. There is no other program in the country that offers hours of hands-on practice and training with a skilled captain, along with a vacation experience at Lake Powell, at this affordable price” said David Sloma, vice president of operations for Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas. Fall dates are available the weekends of Sept. 24 at Bullfrog Marina in Utah, and Oct. 1 and 8 at Wahweap Marina, on the Arizona-Utah border. The Introduction to Houseboating is priced at $299 and includes a two-night stay at Lake Powell Resort or Defiance House Lodge and daily breakfast for two. Participants can also explore the lake on their own by adding a full-day powerboat rental for more than 60 percent off peak season rates.
